 Is It For You? Minimize

Should you and your board leaders attend this workshop? Ask yourself the following questions...

Is your board wrapped up in operational issues such as managing events or other projects for the membership?
Are you constantly feeling your board meetings are full of surprises?
Do you feel as if your current and incoming chairmen do not work in partnership with you?
Is your board still working as a managing board vs. a governing board?
Do you feel your board is not visible at the events they should be?
Do you feel like your board meetings have more drama than a reality television show?
Do you think there is more your board could be doing to help the organization move towards its strategic goals?
Have you ever complained about your board?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, this workshop is a MUST for you and your elected officers. You provide your staff with training to effectively do their jobs, so why aren't you providing training for your board? By attending this workshop with your chief elected and incoming officers you will come to better understand how to leverage all of the assets your board members bring to the table and position your organization for success.

Don’t leave your leadership capacity to chance. Enhance the effectiveness of your association’s key leaders through How To Be An Extraordinary Chairman, a full day workshop targeted to your chief elected officer and incoming chief elected officer (whether you call them the chairman/chairman-elect or president/president-elect). In 8 hours, your volunteer leaders will garner the skills necessary to strengthen and foster confidence in their roles as facilitators, leaders and interveners.

Give your chairman and chairman-elect the capacity and confidence they need to flourish. After this workshop, your board members will be prepared and armed with the tools to lead the organization with finesse and purpose. Special Bonus: All attendees will receive a copy of the Chief Governing Officer Handbook.

Strategy focused governance is a matter of survival for many organizations. Your board of directors has the ability to be great but only if you are providing them with the tools and training to do their jobs effectively. Take action now to
create the foundation for your organization’s future success.

About the Partnership between MSAE and AMR Minimize

In 2008, Diane Dufek, President of Association Management Resources (AMR), determined that the clients of her association management company were in need of capacity-building in governing. Dufek partnered with Sue Radwan to develop and teach a curriculum that helped to redefine and to improve the governance practiced by many of AMR’s clients. The testimony of those who attended the workshops demonstrated a resounding success and it was clear that other associations would benefit from this style of capacity-building. In 2009, Dufek approched the Michigan Society of Association Executives to offer this training to MSAE members. With the importance and need of these topics, MSAE and AMR have created a strategic partnership to present the How To Be An Extraordinary Chairman workshop to members, their current elected officers, those in the leadership pipeline and association staff. To date, this workshop has assisted 45 different associations.
