Professional Bio
Debbie Stair’s expertise is grounded in over 18 years of cumulative school board service. Stair served over 15 years on the Huron Valley Schools Board of Education, 3 years on the Oakland Schools Board, as well as 4 years on the MASB Board of Directors before a move to the Lansing area.
Trained in the facilitation methods of Adaptive Schools as well as facilitation, environmental scanning and strategic planning in Technology of Participation (ToP), Stair has designed and delivered workshops and training programs numerous nonprofit and educational organizations in the areas of environmental scanning, strategic planning, board and organizational development, volunteer management, parent and community involvement, and advocacy. She now specializes in school board development program design and facilitation and strategic planning.
Stair’s professional experience includes her current position as the Assistant Director for Leadership Development for the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB); and previously as Associate Director at the Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principals Association (MEMSPA); and Government Relations/Courageous Journey Programs Assistant at the Michigan Association of School Administrators (MASA).
In addition to her school board related service, Stair has served as the Michigan PTA President, as a member of the Fund Development Committee for National PTA, the Huron Valley Education Foundation Board, as well as numerous leadership positions in various community organizations.
She is a graduate of Lawrence Technological University with a B.A. in Business Administration and completed an M.A. in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from Capella University.
