Professional Bio
Jamila Harley, M.Ed., CCC-SLP, is the Director of Career Management Services at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), where she oversees the Career Portal’s operations, supporting the career growth of 234,000 members and generating non-dues revenue.
A former speech-language pathologist, Jamila transitioned to association management five years ago. She has been recognized as a 2023 Top 100 Most Influential Talent Acquisition Thought Leader by The Association for Talent Acquisition Solutions. During her tenure at ASHA, she provided expert consultation and developed critical resources during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A dedicated advocate for diversity, equity, inclusion, and access (DEIA), Jamila has held leadership roles with the National Black Association for Speech, Language, and Hearing (NBASLH) and served on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee for the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD).
Living with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Jamila raises awareness through her blog, RheumMates Chronicles.
She earned her Bachelor’s in Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Master’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders from North Carolina Central University, graduating magna cum laude. Jamila maintains the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) and is an active member of ASHA, NBASLH, ASAE, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®
In 2024, she was named a scholar in the prestigious ASAE Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP).
