Member engagement is key to association success - but how to quantify it? Marketing General Incorporated's 2024 Membership Benchmarking Report includes the following list of potential metrics:

  1. Attendance at in-person annual conference/trade show
  2. Acquire or maintain certification with the organization
  3. Participation in the young professional program
  4. Mobile conference app usage
  5. Participation in public social media group
  6. Attendance at in-person professional development meetings
  7. Participation in Special Interest Groups
  8. Mobile membership app usage
  9. Attendance at webinars
  10. Attendance at virtual professional development meetings
  11. Attendance at virtual annual conference/trade show
  12. Participation in members-only online communities
  13. Number of visits to the members-only section of the website
  14. Donations to association foundation or PAC
  15. Participation in the mentoring program
  16. Number of membership upgrades
  17. Volunteerism with organization
  18. Purchase or maintain insurance through the organization
  19. Use of career services (e.g., Career Center)
  20. Book or directory purchases
